We’re excited to share that Byline Magazine has reached its fundraising goal — thank you! Your support is helping UM journalism students bring The Wildfire Edition to life. With time left in our campaign, additional gifts will help cover more stories and expand opportunities for student journalists in the field.
Do you know how it feels to see your name in a print byline? We want that same experience for University of Montana journalism students, and we need your help. Printing costs have gone up, and your contribution will ensure the acclaimed Byline Magazine makes it to press.
This year, our Byline team is led by former National Geographic editor-in-chief Chris Johns and long-time journalism professor Denise Dowling. Byline gives students the chance to publish meaningful work with depth and context. Their efforts have already earned national recognition, with past editions receiving top honors in writing, photography and design from the Society of Professional Journalists.
UM Journalism students are now producing Byline Magazine: The Wildfire Edition. They’re traveling across the region to cover stories from the front lines of wildfire, tackling topics such as insurance in fire country, impacts on wildlife and health concerns. Students take on every role, including reporting, photography, design, editing and fact-checking, to bring the magazine to life.
You can be part of the Byline story and make this vital student work possible.
